Two data centers
Better Cater runs in Dallas and Chicago, with Akamai (Linode) and Vultr. If one fails, the other takes over within minutes. Customer data is stored in the US.
If one data center has a problem, you're back to work within minutes, even on event day.
Automatic backups
Better Cater backs up customer data several times a day, and the backups are tested regularly.
Your menus, clients and invoices can be brought back if something goes wrong.
Audited hosting
Better Cater's hosting providers, Akamai and Vultr, are ISO 27001 certified and have independent SOC 2 audits.
The buildings and systems your data lives in are checked by outside auditors.
Encrypted connections
Every connection to Better Cater uses HTTPS, and Better Cater's servers sit behind Cloudflare.
What you send is protected, even on venue or coffee-shop Wi-Fi.
Secure sign-in
Better Cater never stores passwords in readable form, and every user can turn on two-step sign-in.
With two-step sign-in on, a stolen password alone isn't enough to get into your account.
Checked with every change
Every code change to Better Cater is scanned for security problems.
Every update is checked for known weaknesses.

Where does Better Cater store its data?
In the United States. The app runs in data centers in Dallas, Texas (Akamai/Linode) and Chicago, Illinois (Vultr), and uploaded files are stored with AWS in the US.
Is Better Cater SOC 2 certified?
Better Cater does not have its own SOC 2 report. Its hosting providers, Akamai and Vultr, are ISO 27001 certified and have independent SOC 2 audits.
Does Better Cater offer two-factor authentication?
Yes. Every user can turn on two-step sign-in with an authenticator app, and gets backup codes in case the phone is lost.
